Things I'm Loving
I thought that this week I would write about a few things I am seeing and loving right now when it comes to interiors. I’m not sure if it is the change of seasons that does it or just the general passing of time but sometimes it is good to reflect on what we are drawn to and notice when our design preferences evolve. So in this post, I'm excited to share some of the latest things I am seeing and enjoying for myself and my clients. From bold colour choices to soothing muted tones, natural elements, and inviting interiors, let's explore the elements that are capturing (my) hearts and transforming spaces right now.
Color Drenching: Going All In
Color drenching is all about saturating (as the name suggests) spaces with colour. This means painting walls, ceilings and trims all in the same colour. I really love the effect this has on a space. A deep colour brings a sense of cocooning when colour drenching is used while a light colour to me makes the space feel calm and inviting. Painting walls, trim and ceiling in the same colour brings a cohesive foundation to a room to build the rest of the look on. I am really tempted to paint my own second smaller living space in a single colour. I am waiting on a new sofa to arrive before I decide the colour (am a bit tentative to be fair) but I know it will look amazing. We did it in a snug last year - we went deep navy and the room came up so well. I am sure you have seen the images before but just in case you haven’t, check it out.
Mixing Pale Colour with a Saturated Colour:
Pale colors are gaining popularity in my opinion for their liveability. By this I mean their ability to create a sense of tranquility and elegance in interiors that is easy to live with. Soft tones and earthy neutrals provide a soothing backdrop that allows other elements to shine. They also look amazing when used in conjunction with a deep or more saturated colour. The deep contrast seems to allow each of the colours to really shine. This can be done not just with paint but also with upholstery, furniture and decor accents to create a timeless and sophisticated atmosphere in your home. See some examples below that I found on Pinterest:
Greens: Bringing Nature Indoors:
The trend of incorporating greens into interior design could be reflecting our growing desire to reconnect with nature, or it could be that we are just drawn to nature as humans. Either way, its beautiful and I am right into it. Whether through potted plants, botanical prints, or green hues, greenery adds a sense of freshness and vitality to any space. Use plants, artwork, or textiles to introduce green elements and create a calming and rejuvenating environment.
Bold Stone: Making a Statement with Natural Materials:
Bold stone surfaces, such as marble, granite, and terrazzo, are becoming focal points in modern interiors. These natural materials add texture, depth, and visual interest to any space, whether in the kitchen, bathroom, or living area. Consider incorporating bold stone elements to add a touch of luxury and sophistication to your home. I think bold stone is absolutely stunning. It really can be used in small or large amounts - think entire bench top and splash or a bathroom shelf or niche. Thoughtful touches or going all in….it is amazing. Case in point below! Thanks Pinterest.
Warm Metals: Adding Elegance and Glamour:
Warm metallic accents, such as brass, copper, and gold, continue to be popular choices for adding glamour to interiors. Whether in the form of hardware, lighting fixtures, or decorative accessories, warm metals add warmth and sophistication to any room. Incorporate metallic accents to create a sense of luxury and opulence in your home.
Artwork: Personalizing Spaces with Expression:
Artwork always adds personality and character to interiors, reflecting our interests, passions, and style. Whether it's a striking painting, a unique sculpture, or a gallery wall filled with memories, artwork creates visual intrigue and enhances the ambiance of any space. Use artwork to personalize your home and create a space that feels totally yours. I do love a gallery wall, here are some particularly fab ones I have found in my Pinterest travels.
Cosy Rooms: Creating Inviting and Comfortable Spaces:
I think there’s no better way to unplug than in a cozy space where we can relax and unwind. From plush rugs and soft throws to oversized sofas and warm lighting, cozy rooms are all about comfort and intimacy. These rooms aren’t big, in fact they’re the opposite. They are small and full of lovely inviting pieces of furniture that invite you to snuggle in. Got a space room? Why not consider converting it into a reading room or a TV room with a sofa and cosy armchair and really fill the space? I could think of nothing more inviting.
So these are the things I’m loving right now and I am finding myself thinking of more as I work with my clients and make changes in my own home. I think that whether you're drawn to colour, natural elements, or cozy interiors, there's no shortage of ways to express your style and create a home that feels inviting and personal. So go ahead, explore the trends that appeal to you, and transform your space into your own little haven.
