It Started With The Wallpaper

Right now I have a project in the works for a little girl’s bedroom. I enjoy working on kids rooms and I always look forward to hearing what the child wants to have included in their room. Some of the requests are hilarious and gorgeous at the same time. It’s then my job to include these requests in an aesthetically pleasing way….putting it nicely. I have been asked to create a green bedroom before - ninja turtle green…..that was a tough one.

For this room the little girl in question wanted to be ‘surrounded by nature’ and also likes the colour green. No problem! I found some gorgeous wallpaper from Natty and Polly and used this as the starting point. I know not everyone loves wallpaper and depending on the room, a feature wall is not always the answer. I like wallpaper, especially wallpaper in bedrooms and my idea here is that we install trim on the bottom half of the walls and then wallpaper above the trim, on all walls. I think this is a great way to make a statement, in a little more of an understated way. She also has a big dark timber desk in her room, which I am suggesting we paint in Dulux Settler for some added colour that ties in with the wallpaper. Here is a peek at a few of the decisions I have made so far.

What do you think? I need to pull the samples and make some decisions on bedding, cushions and window treatments but I think it is really sweet. Fingers crossed she and her parents love it too.
