Christmas Time

I love Christmas in Australia. I like being able to go to the beach for a swim on Christmas day, eat a cold lunch and then enjoy the summer holidays in the weeks that follow. I have a huge bank of happy Christmas memories from my childhood and have never really wanted to leave Australia over the Christmas break and miss our beautiful summers. The long days and warm evenings coupled with the slower pace is just so good – and it only happens once a year.

I found this image on Pinterest and a tutorial on youtube of a table decorated with a garland using Australian greenery and I think it is gorgeous, it would be ideal for Christmas. Simple and pulled together with some really inexpensive trimmings. I am going to use it as inspiration for my own table this year. Take a look at the tutorial if you are feeling inspired! Then you just have to wander into your garden or take a little walk to collect some greenery and you are away!

When I do look online for Christmas decorating ideas, there seems to be a sea of images of people decorating their homes in the northern hemisphere, preparing for a very cold Christmas. I have to admit these images are also gorgeous and probably somewhat romanticised by me. The living rooms look so cozy, perfect for escaping the cold and enjoying a hot Christmas dinner with family.

I would love to take my family for a cold Christmas one day. I think it would be pretty special experience – certainly different to what we are used to. If I had to choose one over the other though, I think I would choose hot. I am sure that has everything to do with the memories I have and previous experiences I have enjoyed at Christmas time. Even so, I am keen to know, which would you choose?
